Verify

Does this claim still stand?

A Verus identity claim is a signed statement by a deployment that a Confrmo account holder proved who they were, at a moment, for a bounded period. It can be checked by anyone holding its identifier, and revoked by the person it describes.

The identifier travels with the claim. Checking one reveals nothing about the person it describes, and this page never sees the request: the lookup goes from your browser straight to the deployment.

What a check tells you

What comes back

  • Whether the claim is live, expired or revoked
  • Which deployment issued it, as a public key
  • Whether the signature over it verifies
  • When it was issued and when it stops being true

What does not

  • Any name, address, phone number or email
  • The Confrmo account behind the attestation
  • The attributes the holder chose to disclose privately
  • Anything about who is doing the checking

A revoked claim is not a forged one, and the answer distinguishes them: the signature on a revoked claim still verifies, which is what lets a counterparty tell "this person withdrew it" from "this was never issued".
